Hi Jennifer
I like your site - its a great resource. I teach ESL here in Australia mainly to Koreans - I don't suppose you have any insights in teaching the "w" consonant pronunciation.? Koreans have great difficulty with the "w" and I am at some of a loss on how to teach it! regards Derek |

To "WagnerPrA":
I studied Portuguese when I was surrounded by Brazilian co-workers at one point. I wanted to have some clue what they were talking about; I learned enough to achieve that goal. Unfortunately, at this time I don't have time for formal language study. In the future I'd like to learn enough Portuguese to have a basic conversation, and I'd like to go back and pick up Japanese again as well. My French was never good, but I managed to do basic things (order a meal, buy stamps, etc.) when I was in France. My Russian will soon get more practice, as I plan to move to Moscow for a short time. (Big news!) Corrections: Capitlize nationalities and languages. (Americans, English, etc.) Better phrasing: "If I spoke more slowly, would it be easier for native speakers to...?" Answer: Clear speech is better than fast, mumbled speech. Speak clearly enough to be understood. Try not to feel pressured by the speed at which others may speak to you. Regards, Jennifer |

are you reallly interested in learning Portuguese? It's hard to find americans who want to learn other languagues. Generally, they think all the world should speak only english. Surely that's not your case, right? I'd like to ask you a question, Jennifer and it would be so nice to have a reply as soon as possible: If I pronounced the words slowly, would it be easier for the english-speaking people to understand what I am saying? Or would it only make their comprehension even more difficult?
P.S. if there's any grammatical error in this message, please let me know. I'm looking forward to receiving your reply. Good-bye. |
